You have a low offer and a high offer for what seems to be the same leveler. Put the assumptions next to the price before deciding which quotation is more suitable.

Short answer

Dock leveler prices can describe different dimensions, construction, controls, accessories, documentation and delivery responsibilities. Put the offered configurations into the same comparison table and mark exclusions or assumptions. A headline price alone cannot establish whether two offers meet the same project requirement.

Issue the same brief to each supplier

Use one current description of the bay, vehicles, handling method and required quantity. Attach the same drawing revision and identify any missing information. If one supplier quotes an assumed pit and another includes a site-specific frame, their totals are not yet comparable.

Separate the base unit from options

Ask which controls, accessories, surface treatment and documents belong to the base offer. Show optional items as separate lines. Terms such as heavy-duty or complete set are not a sufficiently precise description of what will arrive. Link each required item to the configuration or drawing.

Compare interfaces and responsibilities

Check whether civil works, installation, electrical connection and commissioning are included, excluded or assigned to another party. Compare the same transport and delivery scope. A quotation can be valid while covering less work than another, so clarify the boundary before deciding that a price is excessive or incomplete.

Compare evidence rather than adjectives

Ask which inspection records and applicable documents will be supplied for the exact configuration. A general claim of premium quality does not identify acceptance criteria. A website certificate does not necessarily cover the offered product. Record the documents needed for your destination and project review.

Keep a decision log

Record differences, unanswered questions and the revision of each quotation. When a supplier changes the configuration, update the comparison rather than comparing the new price with an old scope. Delivery timing and any warranty or service terms should be confirmed in the order documents, not inferred from general website statements.

Before you confirm the selection

Use the same revision of the enquiry for every comparison. If a supplier offers an alternative, record the technical difference and its effect on the scope. Do not treat the alternative as equivalent until reviewed.

Should I choose the lowest quotation once the model name matches?

Model names do not define a complete scope. Compare the configuration, interfaces, documents and responsibilities before making the commercial decision.
